Week #27 – Bug Cupcake Toppers

Okay I know these aren’t cakes but they look just as long as a cake would have so I figure it counts!

I was asked to make these cupcake toppers for a little girl’s birthday party.  They are made from fondant.

To make them, I broke down each bug into basic shapes and just mass cut out those shapes.  Then I could just assemble each one with gum paste glue which is just dissolved gumpaste. To clean up any imperfections I used a tiny bit of vodka on a brush – don’t worry it doesn’t get the kids drunk!
